How to Become Successful

There is a saying that: “Good things are hard to come by”. Well the saying is true, but there are guys who have made it in several fields that seemed impossible. Examples of these men are: Ben Carson—one of the best neurosurgeons in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo—one of the best footballers of all time, Bill Gates—one time world richest man. Two things are common amongst these three (3) men: “FOCUS and PASSION”.

These men were able to attain high level of focus. Not in any other thing, but on their passions. Take for Example: Mark Zuckerberg had the dream of “CONNECTING THE WORLD”. He had this in mind at a quite young age. This was the main reason as a student, he came up with the idea of creating a social networking site he called “Facemash”—a site for Harvard University Students, which was later banned, but because he had the passion for his dream, he didn't stop pushing. He knew what he wanted and heard it call his name anytime he was close to attaining it. He saw himself where he wanted to be and not where people placed him.

Fortunately, on the 4^th of February, 2004, he founded the world's largest, most successful social networking site—Facebook. This was not because he was a wizard when it comes to programming. In fact Mark was just a student of computer science and psychology at Harvard (and there are so many people like that that are so nowhere to be found), but because he focused on his passion, he attained his dream. Now isn't that a dream come true? Look, I know the question running through your mind now: “HOW DO I FOCUS ON MY PASSION AND BECOME SUCCESSFUL?”

1. You Need to Want to Be Successful.

I know it sounds funny, but it is said that the mindset with which you approach a problem, determines whether you'll solve it or not. Thus, approaching problems you encounter while climbing to the top with a “SUCCESS MINDSET” and putting in your best in that venture of yours would be a great start for your success story.

2. You Need to Know What You Want to Be Successful in.

One of the foremost things to do when looking for the solution to a problem is to identify the problem itself. What Field do you want to be successful in? Is it in Engineering? Medicine, Business, Academia, et cetera. Wanting to be successful and not having a career path in mind is like a journey without destination and any one journeying without a destination can never settle. I once heard of a man that was praying to God for blessings. One day, while he was praying, Jesus appeared to him and asked him what he wanted. And because he never had a particular blessing in mind he could not point out what exactly he wanted. So he let the opportunity slip. Thus, identifying where you want to be successful in is a step you've got to take pretty serious.

3. Be Hard-working. 

With hard-work, it’s very possible to do whatever you set your mind to. The effort you put into anything you do tells whether you're going to be successful in it or not. A little effort will yield little and lots of effort will yield unbeatable results. So how long you study as a student, how much time you put into training as a sports man or performer, how much dedication you put into your, business as an entrepreneur is very crucial if you're serious about being successful.

4. Never Give Up.

Larry Page, Lionel Messi, Warren Buffett, Kanye West, Bill Gates, Amancio Ortega, Larry Ellison, Jim Waltson, John Mars, Mark Zuckerberg—now that doesn’t sound like a list of poor or unsuccessful people, but you should also know that these guys didn’t give up easily otherwise, they obviously won’t be where they are today. They kept pushing, even when it got tough. Not giving up may seem hard for many, but it's still possible. You should always tell yourself that anything worth starting is worth finishing. And not just finishing, but finishing successfully.

5. Develop a Strong Will.

The essence of will power in regards to success is one that cannot be overemphasized. To become successful one must not underestimate the role of decision making. Success requires you to consciously decide to work hard and strive to the top. Learn to make up your mind to do things that will benefit you. Read wide and become a student of life. This will strengthen your ability to take stands.
